FAQs
How can I improve my Land Rover's performance?
Diesel engines run most efficiently between 1200 and 2000rpm. Petrol engines are best between 1500 and 2500 rpm. Changing gear earlier to stay within these engine speeds will help improve your fuel consumption, as will using the Dynamic function on your in-car navigation system to avoid stop-start conditions on congested roads.
What's my vehicle's warranty?
All Land Rovers come with the following warranties: 3 year unlimited mileage, 3 year unlimited mileage paint surface and 6 year unlimited mileage corrosion (perforation). To qualify, you must service your vehicle according to our recommendations.
Can I extend the warranty on my Land Rover?
Yes, this is highly recommended. Ask your local dealership about an extra 12 months extended warranty from Land Rover Approved.
When should I have my Land Rover serviced?
Defenders and Freelanders should be serviced every 12,000 miles or 12 months, whichever is soonest. The Freelander 2 and Discovery 3 should be serviced every 15,000 miles. The new model Range Rover and Range Rover Sport have automatic servicing indicators. Regular servicing is crucial for your car's efficiency – clogged air filters can increase fuel consumption by 10%. Incorrect tyre pressure and wheel alignment, or fitting off-road tyres for road use will all damage your fuel efficiency.

What happens if I break down in Continental Europe?
Call Land Rover Assistance International on (0044) 208 239 3963. They'll give you a similar service to the cover you get at home.
How do I obtain Key Codes and Radio Codes?

Regular maintenance
Owner maintenance
Your handbook contains simple, precautionary checks for you to carry out as and when necessary. This will help keep your Land Rover safe, reliable and economical.
Main services
Servicing must be carried out as recommended by Land Rover during the life of the vehicle. They are also crucial to maintain your Land Rover's efficiency. This will also help keep your Land Rover at optimal performance.
Arduous operating conditions
To avoid premature wear, your Land Rover will need more frequent servicing if you've driven in severe conditions, such as off-road in mud, dust or airborne sand, at high speeds, or in temperatures above 50C. Contact your dealer or authorised repairer for more information.
End of life procedures
